S5 replacement turbo for a S4 turbo

Before I go any further I bought a S5 stock turbo and swapping out the old S4 one. I wanted to stick with using the manifold that came with the S5 verses the S4 but this is where I might be wrong. Is it going to be okay to swap this? Reason I am stumped is dealing with the Twin Scroll Solenoid(green) as the switch actuator is again if not mistaken located on the original manifold. If anyone could shine some light on what would be the best idea to continue on please let me know before I lose anymore of my hair.

you use the s5 manifold with the s5 turbo.

Am I mistaken with the location of the switching actuator? Reason I am confused is dealing with this Twin Scroll Solenoid. I pulled up another tread and here is the quote with how to hook that solenoid back up...

Very good! One more thing to say bye bye to. I assume I can plug everything with the twinscroll off then? Thank you greatly for your knowledge Needless to say I am very new at this due to a buddy being shipped off to Iraq that took all this stuff off

I would recommend porting the wastegate before you install it. The S5 is superior but I have had terrible boost creep with them on a very free flowing system.

You can swap the S5 unit over as long as you keep the S5 manifold.

You want to keep the S4 oil drain line because the S5 is a different length/bolt pattern. OR you can build your own out of 10 AN lines and fittings.

The twin scroll will just be unplugged and won't harm anything. I've completely depinned them from my engine harness.

Good advice, thanks! Yea, I just pulled the rest of the "rats nest" out and couldnt be more thrilled at the sight I can now see. Far as I know from reading around here the only solenoid left is the FPR(orange). I see many say its not even worth keeping but if its reason to keep is due to the 'hot' start conditions Id rather keep that one intacked.

I might add when I bought this car it wouldnt start. When it was disassembled, basically had a terrible exhaust leak that was coming from the turbo manifold which turned out to be a burned out gasket and everything seemed to be poorly fastened together. Dont know the reason it wouldnt turn over but ones its all back together I will re-evaluate things without all the obvious problems.

I ran the FPR solenoid only for a year or so and then one day bypassed it. I felt absolutely no difference. If you have hot start issues then bypassing it may make it worse but if you can start up fine then I'd remove it as well.

Why would you? It just increases fuel pressure. It only works when both the coolant and intake temps are high, only when starting, only for 50 seconds, and only while in neutral. There's nothing to feel.
