That dash definatley looks like a s4 NA with manual tranny. No boost gauge, no gear numbers, 7k redline.

It's very easy to change the boost gauge to a volt gauge in the stock cluster, did that to my s5, and its works fine. The stock boost gauge is worthless.

Haha, super ricer.

He was just an old man, very doubtful.

This is only speculation though, I don't have any info that would confirm that hypothesis. I would be interested to know if the OP's car actually revs to 8k, or if it has a fuel cut 200-300 rpm past the indicated 7k redline.
I wouldn't know really... will have to check the car's paperwork to see where it came from. As far as I know the car was imported to Argentina, RX7's where never sold locally by Mazda themselves.

My FC is currently being repainted and stuff, when I have the chance, I'll check that.

Hmmm... didn't S4's come with different volt/oil pressure/temp/fuel gauges than the S5?

its definitely an S5 gauge cluster. its got the round gauges instead of the ones that start out flat on the bottoms. its just simply got a 7k rpm redline. who gives. my S5 did to and still does. it was an automatic tho, even after the 5 speed swap i still have it in there. lol. but yours being a manual is just odd. never seen that before.

I think my S4 TII has a 7k redline, but then again, it's the aftermarket blue/white dash cover thingy. I don't quite know what the stock TII redline is. It buzzes at 7 though.

Yes but their is not voltmeter. It has a boost gauge instead.
Here is a S5 n/a 5speed cluster. I also noticed on the one Mushiki posted the oil pressure is different.

The oil pressure gauge is different only because its in metric units

Why did it take so long for someone to realize that this is what happened? Sheesh.

i really hope you are joking. i really do...

anyway, the most logical explanation is either the stock tach stopped working and someone swapped in a turbo tach, OR it's a turbo cluster and the boost gauge was swapped to a voltage gauge.

otherwise maybe some dude at the Mazda factory was a little weary from a night of Sake drinking and messed up.

It wouldn't be the strangest thing to ever happen my car has the factory allarm (S5) but is a base model and even though it has the passenger lock actuator, there is no wiring for the lock mechenism itself. The lock motor is just there but not plugged into anything.

that's definately a s5 cluster. like someone posted the s5 gauges are circular and the s4's are pie shaped. whether or not the gauges are interchangable - that's anyone's guess.

Weird Seems like you got a one of a kind RX7. that all i could said. but it could be true that they swap out the tech. Like all the other people say S5 Na has a redline of 8k.

I'll have the engine checked to see how high it can rev -- when should she fuel-cut act?

I was just checking my chassis number, seems like it won't help at all... doesn't look like it's formatted like in the FAQ:

Chassis Code: FC1032-200343
Engine Code: 13BE062234

ALL 2nd gen rx-7's hit fuel cut/rev limiter at ~8500RPM, REGARDLESS of tach redline.

S4's and S5 turbos will indicate 7800RPM as that's the max possible reading on the tachometer, but it's 8500.

Looks like an S5 automatic.

My S4 doesn't have round gauges on the oil pres. and all that stuff.

S5 auto = 7k
S5 man. = 8k

Mushiki yours uses a distributor correct?

i was in a similar situation as u...until i did a full TII Jspec swap

i'm guessing your South American Spec is similar to the Middle East spec
