S5 NA AFM Adjustment Idea
I recently replaced the stock air filter with a Bonez Racing cone filter and while I was instaling it I decided to mess with the Air Fuel Meter cone-thingy. With the filter off I started reving the engine by hand under the hood observing how the meter worked. I noticed that if the meter is not allowed to fully close when you let off the throttle and then you stab the gas it responds much quicker.
This got me thinking, if I could somehow place another spring to push the opposite direction of the regular spring for only for the first inch of travel or so that should improve throttle response without screwing up the mixtures. Is this a bad idea? I've read some posts about people swapping NA AFM's unto a TII for instance and I dont want to risk screwing up the mixtures risking detonation. If anyone else has tried this or just wants to warn against it I'd appreciate your input as I wont attempt to mess with it until the theory is proven.
