s5 N/a tranny into s4 TII?
s5 N/a tranny into s4 TII?
Asking for a friend. Searched, but just want to get a clear, concise answer.
A friend of mine just picked up an s4 TII with a blown trans and just wants to thow in the s5 N/A trans he has laying around so he can drive until he picks up a TII trans. Can he do this, and if so, what else does he need? Would an s4 N/A trans go in easier than the s5 N/A trans?

The tranny will bolt up to the engine, but you would still need to use the old turbo flywheel. You would also either need a custom driveshaft, or a NA rear end and NA driveshaft. It doesn't matter the series of the rear end, though.
Also, the NA tranny is much weaker, so be sure not to romp on it.

To use a non turbo transmission on a S4 Turbo motor, you would also need to use the S4 Non turbo flywheel (of aftermarket light weight non turbo flywheel with a S4 counter wieght), non turbo starter, non turbo clutch slave, and of course non turbo divershaft, rear end, etc.

Sorry, got mixed up on the flywheel. I just realized my mistake but you beat me to it. Also, if he is keeping the TII rear end, he would need a custom driveshaft, right?
