s5 n/a TB/Timing and 6pi/vdi issues

ok talking about an s5 n/a here

issue 1: TIMING

i set my timing per FSM. jumpered the test connector and everything.
timing is set. when i open the throttle a bit (to test advance/retard) and let it close, it doesnt return to proper time, unless i press the wrong way on the throttle a tiny bit.

issue 2: vdi and 5/6 ports not working.

for some reason neither my vdi NOR my 6pi are opening. all vac. lines are going where they should. voltage is 100% right at the solenoids. i checked by watching the vdi actuator with a test light on the solenoid. when proper rpms were reached, the test light lit up (solenoid got its juice) but the actuator never moved. the vac line to the actuator *is* blowing out air, but it doesnt feel like enough to open the vdi, because if i BLOW into the actuator with my mouth, it takes a bit of effort, but i can make it move like that.

5/6ports i tested in the same method as above (with the test light), but knowing that the ecu wont open the 6pi solenoid until it is under load, i just plugged the vdi connector onto the 6pi solenoid to see if they'd move. nothing.

it just seems that theres not enough air in the vac rack to push the actuators?

info on car:
no p/s
no a/c
street port
racing beat headers back
air pump is there (s5)
.,..
tps is properly set per fsm

any help would be great
thanks

What's your idle RPM? Does it vary at all when you pull on the throttle pedal (pull it back towards you?)

Not when I pull the pedal, only the tb itself

Also, if I set timing (leading wire) to the trailing mark, it will work fine. It goes back to where I set it.

Maybe my cpu is bad? I have another I can try, but I'm not throwing any codes

rpms at idle, when i pull back on the throttle are like 840, when i just let it go on its own its like 1500

tps is set perfectly with the multimeter method, and checked with the light method.

i thought it was my old tps, i put another in (tested to fsm spec before installing)

I had a problem with my 6 ports. It turned out to be that the ECU wasn't sending a signal to the solenoid, but everything else worked, so I just wired in an RPM switch, problem solved.
