S5 Manifold and Turbo on S4 block?

it must be possible but is there any modifying ill need to do, and how hard is it? does anyone have a writeup of some kind. im getting boost creep so im going to port the S5 wastegate, and since the S5 turbo is a better turbo anyways ill just throw that in instead of my S4...sound like a good idea?

Sounds like a geat idea. Make sure you have the oil and coolant lines from both turbos though, they may not match up.

Do you need the S4 lines on the S5 turbo, or will the S4 lines work?

well it looks like ill port my S5 wastegate to 40mm, then ill need the manifold gasket and a new turbo gasket...

im gonna have to order the new turbo gasket from mazdatrix though...thats one gasket i dont have...or does anyone know where i can get one for less than 50 bucks?

-Matt

after that comes Walbro 225lph fuel pump, and if im boosting too high a 2 inch exhaust restrictor plate...

EDIT: Its only 33 dollars for the gasket on Mazdatrix.com

I'm looking into doing this same turbo swap. Just curious if the S5 turbo and manifold are all that I will need to swap them onto my S4 engine. Any more insight would be greatly appreciated.

(Edit for sig violation...check your PMs)

I have personally put a S5 turbo and manifold on my 87TII I just had to swap the s4 oil lines on to the s5 turbo, and there is two vacuum lines to plug, thats all I remember doing it all works fine no problem, didn't notice much performance increase, I just know I have a better turbo and my manifold is no longer cracked

Cool, so basically just need the original (S4) oil lines, and that's it, excellent!

All this has been well documented before. A search will locate all relevant info.

You need the S5 turbo and manifold, and S5 oil/water lines.

It happens very rarely, but Aaron's wrong. You must use the water and oil lines that are already on your engine.

I was also told that you need the S5 front cover. Is this correct?

I second NZConvertable because I have done it personally, S5 and S4 lines are different lengths so you got to use S4's lines on a S5 turbo&manifold on a S4 turboFC engine

I talked with Bryan over at BNR and he says he can port the S4 WG to a larger opening than the S5 WG.

Food for thought...
