S5 lightened rotors

I found a site couple of weeks ago that sold OEM S5 rotors as well as lightened versions. I believe they sold rotors for the Reni too. Ive googled the **** out of S5 rotors and RX7 rotors but all I get is **** on ebay and brake rotors. Anyone know a site where I can buy lightened S5 rotors?

Thanks

racingbeat.com and mazdatrix.com both sell them, I think mazdatrix probably just sells the racing beat ones though.

Hope you have plenty of cash for this project. A pair of Racingbeat lightened rotors (PN: 10004 / 10007) go for $2365.

Lightened rotors are designed for high-rpm race engines. If your engine does not have bridge or peripheral porting, then lightened rotors are pretty much a waste of money. Also, the rotating assembly needs to be rebalanced by a professional if you install lightened rotors. Since the picture of your car does not indicate to me that you are building a $50,000 track-only race car, you may want to skip this modification and spend the money on something more worthwhile.

On that note aviator.. if your doing a BP or a HBP you dont NEED lightened rotors do you? Normal rotors will work fine.. right? Lightened rotors are optional??

Well, the more aggressive the porting, the higher the power curve is going to move up the engine rpm band. The higher the operating rpm, the more the heavy rotors are going to stress the engine. I guess it just depends on how you want to build the engine. Regardless, once the operating rpm range exceeds 8500rpm, you will then need to incorporate many modifications (clearancing, locked gears, reduction pulleys, etc.) in order to maintain reliability.

They'd really be a huge waste of money on a street car IMO, unless you're after the ballin' factor.

After I posted this I called RB. They said the lightened rotors only extend the useable powerband to 8500+ and no power gains are achieved. So yeah, unless youre building an all out race car, waste of money. Im just going to install OEM S5 rotors for the higher compression because that will give me more power.

Looking for any ideas for power gains on my n/a s5. I race in a class that doesn't permit forced induction or porting. I've done some exhaust tuning, I have an RTEK 2.0 box, and I have a light flywheel with a low inertia clutch set.

This is a full racecar and is towed to the tracks. I race on ovals and am running at tracks where I only race in 3rd gear. My rpm range is 6400-7500. I removed the 5th & 6th port sleeves, removed the emp and premix, and gutted the intake.

You can watch videos on on my website http://www.jjrmotorsports.com

Wow, somebody actually contacted the professionals rather than completely relying on teh Nternet!

Thank you so much. Due to another recent thread, I was getting the feeling that most of the competent people have left this forum and the fucknuts have taken over. It is nice to know that isn't the case.

You could go with a Weber IDA style throttle body setup that could well gain you a bit more power, but without porting, there's a limit to what you can get.
