S5 GTUs. Emmisions and idle.

Hello beloved rotary community!
I come to thee in need of help.

A few months ago I jumped on a deal to purchase a 1989 GTUs with 119k. The car was sold with a check engine light and hesitation issues and such.

The previous owner did a complete emissions removal other than the BAC and thermowax. Now I rebuilt a spare S5 omp with new lines and fixedthe check engine and got it out of limp mode. The car runs smooth when you drive it however it does not like to idle all of the time.

I am very familiar with s4 electronics and emissions but am list with the S5 stuff. I have noticed that the TPS adjustment screw is damn near tightened all the way down to have the tps ohms in spec.

Can anyone she'd some light on my possible idle issues? More or less if and what emissions parts are missing to remedy this problem. I would rather put it back on if I can source the parts

can you describe when the idle issue occurs? Like you put the clutch pedal in when decelerating and it stalls? It doesn't idle well when cold? Please be more descriptive. Do you have a stock clutch and flywheel?

I am literally going through the exact same thing as we speak!! my car is in limp mode and I think its because during my rebuild I think I cracked an oil line causing my oil pressure to drop.
I would make sure the PO remembered to cap off everything. also I found out removing all the emission on an S5 makes the VDI and 5-6 ports to not function which can cause problems at idle.
I'm working on doing electronic actuation using the write up on the links below.

The ECU has no idea what your oil pressure is (there is no input sensor to tell it), so whatever threw you into limp mode, that's not it.

if the ECU is in limp home, there will also be a code stored in the ECU. this code will tell you why its in limp home.

Sorry for the late reply, my issues have escalated to it no longer starting. Will be pulling the motor shortly for disassembly and inspection
