S5 fuel rails to S4 swap

I have been told that there is a write up on how to do this. I have searched, but have come up empty handed. If someone else can find it and paste the link or tell me what is involved, if anything extraoridnary, I would appreciate it. Oh, both S5 and S4 are jspec TII.

Well, I am in need of an fpr, and am fresh out of funds. So, I am getting a fpr, pulsation damper, and rails from an S5 for pretty cheap, considering what these cost new. That is why. I know, I hate half assing things, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Primaries swap.
You cannot swap the secondary fuel rails.

WHY?

I just did the parallel install on mine with the S5 welded steel ends. My Primary worked perfect, but my secondary leaks where it was welded. I've taken it back three times to be rewelded, and it still leaks. I'm wondering if I can use the S4 secondary rail with the threaded ends like this?

(Thanks to Rotorforce for the pic)

I think Aroncake said the S4 secondary rail will not fit at all in the S5 LIM "AT ALL!!" , but I'm still trying to figure out why not.

Not the answer I wanted to hear, but thanks for the heads up. I guess I'm going to have to cough up the money for a custom fuel rail.

If you have an s5 TII engine and want to put on s4 TII rails, it will work. However, if you have s4 TII engine, and for whatever reason want s5 TII rails, it is not do-able without shimming the rail. I have s4 tII rails on my S5 TII engine, and with the exception on needing longer bolts, it worked without a hitch. The key here is the Turbo engines, the injector placement of the secondaries is identical, but the s5 rails mounting is thinner. The N/A engines however, are not interchangable at all, be it N/A--->Turbo or N/A--->N/A

Good luck to you

Lamar

If you try and use S5 secondary fuel rail on an S4 LIM, the fuel injectors will end up floating in the air.

Well a friend just sold me a Custom secondary fuel rail for $50. The problem now is, The Gsl-se injectors are too small for the rail. I was'nt planning on buying 1000cc or 1200cc injectors for the secondaries until I broke in the engine, but now it looks like I have no choice but the get them now.

Is there anyway to make the 680's fit, or do I now have to buy bigger injectors?

I'll post a pic of the rail in later on.

You might want to call rcengineering.com and check with them. I had a set of bosch 1000cc's that I sent out to them and the replaced the inlets to fit the S4 Secondary rail without me having to cut them. It was cheap too.
