S5 filler neck o-ring

I searched, and could not come up with anything useful, so please forgive me if this has been asked before.

I just purchased a 1989 GXL that's leaking coolant from between the filler neck and the radiator. The FSM does not list a part number for this, it only says "REPLACE", and has no information as to what I should replace it with. Does anyone know what part number I should ask for when I go to the mazda dealer to get a replacement part?

If it's just the o-ring that's bad, you could try a small bead of black or red RTV in the existing groove, then bolt her back down. If it works (and I don't see any reason it wouldn't), it's practically a free fix...

I thought of that, but I wasn't sure if it would last long. I guess it's worth a try, as opposed to beating my head against a wall at a mazda dealer trying to get a part.

From my experience, Mazda dealers dont have ****. Try going to a Whisler Bearing or other shop such as home depot, and find an oring that fits in there perfectly. I'm pretty sure the o-ring from the LIM is the same one as in the filler neck jsut by eyeballing the filler nexk in my living room..

Dude, I'm an RTV geek, been using it on airplanes for decades, and different "flavors" are all over my car, for any number of uses. Practically put the rebuild together with it, no leaks whatsoever after about 4200 miles now... Black or red, made for the heat, will do you good...
