It will be ready by April. You will just have to contact the shop when you are ready and we will work out the details then.

I am fully aware of what it takes to install the AP, I have installed several of them. This is why I decided to figure out how to use the FD version. I was tired of my customers having to pay nearly 3X what the FD unit costs. In addition the AP unit has been discontinued.

FD Power FC + FD igniter = less than 1/2 AP price.

If you read the "how to" we say that you can install the GM, FD or Apexi map sensors, the reason we recommend the GM 3 bar is because the FD sensor is only good the 1 bar and the GM is readily available with the flying lead. Why upgrade twice?, install the GM and be done with it.

Out of curiosity, does the OMP maintain the stock flow rates? (since the FD OMP only has half the amount of oil injectors...).

Because, if you're as frugal as this whole endeavor has made you out to be, you can shop around and get it for less then half the price of the GM 3bar sensor with leads.

Never the less, I do applaud you for your write up. Thank you.

It is not a matter of frugality, I would rather have a new sensor than a used one that has been on another car for no less than 12 years. The PFC conversion is not a matter of being frugal either, it was the simple matter that AP was ripping everyone off.

Don't get me wrong the AP is a great unit and if they were selling it for ~$900 then I would not have bothered figuring out how to use the FD unit. However what you get for the additional money does not equate.

The OMP maintains the same flow rates, you can also increase the flow with the "oiler vs water temp" function

Well, I am off to watch the Super Bowl pregame shows.

gonna keep an eye on this thread - i love the idea of the Apexi in a FC

i bet there isnt 5 FC's in the UK with this set up - and i would like to join the fun

got lots of plans for the car and was gonna go microtech - but more tuners in the UK can handle the Apexi - its the ECU of choice for FD owners

The other thing you need to consider is the tuning software.Unless you pay for the tuning ,you need either the apexi software or third party software like the "datalogit" to unlock the tuning features. From what I gather ,it is a bitch to get a hold of,expensive and support is non-existant(matter of fact people wait months just to get on the private datalogit forum). So thats another reason the FD version is more attractive at half the price, since you need to drop another $300 or so bones on software to unlock the tuning features.

hummm just trying to think who has one in the UK .. if you have a name i prob know him - i prob know about 75% of the FC owners in the UK

still sounds like a cool toy to be honest - its just the cost of it - not sure which route to take - i will wait and see what the harness price comes out to be

its looking like

£400 - £450 for the ECU
£xxx - harness
£250 for the inital tune

so thats a MIN of well over £650 ( prob about $1300 ish )

There are many dataloggits for sale on the forum used and they work fine (the latest revision 1.10 works with the AP PFC.) Support is widely available on this forum since it's such a popular ECU with the FD guys. There is a PFC subsection in the engine management forums.

The neat part about it is that you can use the Toyota MR2 turbo boost control kit and plug it into the stock harness plug for the boost duty solenoid to control it with the PFC.
