S5 which ecu?
you need to tell everyone more about your car and what you plan to do with it...
turbo or NA would be helpful. also, your mods and what you are willing to spend for what gains.

From my own experience, many years ago (2001) I purchased a used 370 ecu ($150) that had been modified by GForce. I guess it's similar to the Rtek that is out now. I installed the computer, tuned for up tp 12 lbs, increased the injection pulse, as well as lowers the secondary injectors to come on around 3400, timing adjustments, and deleted the fuel cut. I installed a FD pump ($40) and a Hallman remote MBC ($130) and the car has been great every since. Stock intake, stock exhaust, minus the precat. Just a cheap way of getting performance.
