Arrow S5 bumper alignment

ok, I have an s5 bumper on my car right now but it does not align with the body correctly for the reasons everyone knows. Has anyone here fixed this? Its 4:25 am here in nYc and im planning on fixing this problem once the sun comes up. I know it does not fit because the mounting holes are different. I am thinking of measuring the space i must correct and then drilling new mounting holes offset of the old ones by that amount. This seems like the least complicated option. Im just a little worried about drilling the holes and still ending up misaligned. Has anyone here done this before? if so how have you fixed it. Do you think it would be a safer bet taking it to a body shop? Thanks for any help.
