S5 auto vs. '81 GSL 5-speed

My current car is a 1989 N/A GXL automatic. My previous one was a '81 GSL with a 5 speed. Now my 1st gen was surprisingly fast making quick work out of damn near any rice rocket. I ran it on the track 2 years ago and ran 17.5@78mph. Bear in mind I'm 4700ft above sea level. Now after that car passed on I'm taking my S5 auto to the track on the 4th to see what it runs before the trans swap and was curious as to if it will even break 17 seconds. It bogs up till 20mph and screams after that. So my first question is will my auto be a match for my '81? And can I break 15's after swapping a TII 5 speed, a light flwheel, swapping the steel hood with the much lighter TII hood, and adding an intake kit? I've already estimated a 100 pound wieght loss along with more power to the wheels and a much faster launch. Can I gain at least 1 second after this work?
