S5 Air Pump Question
The air pump on my JDM turbo engine (S5, and engine is not in the car yet) is very hard to turn and can not be moved by hand (all belts are off). I was wondering if that is normal OR should the air pump spin freely? Also, is the N/A S5 air pump the same and interchangeble with the Tii S5 air pump?
Also, if you remove power steering and A/C unit from the engine, can you also remove the two pulleys that the belts went over from the main crank pulley (there are 4 pullyes in one) ?? Or will there be a balancing issue?

All the smog pumps *should* be the same... I think they're just mounted differently. Can't guarantee that though.
The smog pump should have almost no resistance.

The air pump pulley should spin freely. And yes, you can remove the two unused pulleys. Hmm, I'm not sure whether or not the pumps are interchangeable. I wouldn't think that it would matter. If you have an s5 N/A pump lying around, use it and find out. It won't hurt anything if it doesn't work, it just.....won't work. You know? Hope I helped. You actually removed the power steering pump and A/C compressor right? Not just removed the belts?

well i'm doing the famoust n/a to Tii swap. my n/a never had (was removed) A/C and P/S and since I'm used to that, I don't really want to keep it on my Tii either. That's why I removed them from the engine compleatly. =)

I'm pretty sure the pumps differ from turbo to N/A. I did a turbo swap on my car and the pulley was damaged on the turbo pump. The N/A pump had different placement on the hose ports and the pulley is different.
