S5 6 port turbo compatibility

This thread is for database purposes only. I found little to no info on S5 6 port turbo setups using the stock intakes when I searched so here is some info on fitment.

For people looking to turbocharge S5 13Bs with the stock intakes, the stock S5 turbo does NOT clear the frame and the intake even with the 2.5" spacer, wastegate actuator removed, and gasket-thin ACV blockoff plate due to the extended wastegate area of the turbine housing and manifold design.

If you look at both series' exhaust manifolds the S4 points the turbine upward while the S5 turbine flange is parallel to the engine block flange. The only way to make it fit is to cut the frame heavily and double gasket one or both connections, or make the spacer 2.65 or 2.7 inches.

The S4 turbo setup on the other hand fits great with the 2.5" block-to-manifold spacer, better with the 2.5" spacer and a 0.5" spacer/flange on the turbine connection. No frame notching required whatsoever if the wastegate is mounted on the frame and connected to the flapper with a piece of wire. I highly suggest against using the S4 turbo (though it can work with enough wastegate porting) especially if you plan on running the car with an open downpipe. With a 32mm wastegate, 3" downpipe > 2.5" Y > 2" factory RB replacement mufflers I still got boost creep using a front mounted TMIC.
