S4 vs S5 TII question
i got a an S4 TII...
and bought a used Turbo kit that came off a S5 TII
the oil lines are diff then i can remember..
i was just wondering are the stock oil inlet and return lines of the S5 diff then the S4?
my kit has a oil inlet similar to the REW's with the threaded hose that has a nut kinda thing...
the return is just a braided hose that looks like it clamps down on a nipple of sorts...
if i remember correctly the S4 has the flat 2 bolt type screws to the block with the gasket sandwiched between (been a while since i pulled my turbo)
is the S4 diff then s5? or perhaps my kit is missing a few odds and ends

The oil supply going into the top is identical.
The oil drain coming out the bottom is different.
The S5 oil return is longer due to the electronic OMP.
You can swap the oil return lines without any major problems just to get them to fit your car.

thanks Ted, can u take a look at this pic Ted...
my kit looks 99% like this one: it almost looks like the oil inlet is comin from the the neck of the radiator pipe...
oh and my 2nd Q.. the external WG has two vacuume lines.. one on the top of it, and one on the bottom/side of it...
do I Connect both to the same vacuume source? do I leave one open or what? is it a high and low boost nipple choice?

You leave the top one disconnected and vented unless you're using a boost controller.

hence why i said turbo "kit" above chief
so i can run the bottom one straight to the UIM nipple?
I do have a Boost controller i want to hook up actually...
one side would go to the upper nipple, would I T off the lower nipples boost reference for the other half?

The thread and pitch size are all the same, and the turbo location is identical.
It should all fit no problem.

There's a lot of options in terms of WG springs, and unless you can confirm what's in there, test it without the boost controller first.
Adding the boost controller (mechanical bleed valve?) is a bit more involved...

thanks ted,
what's the return line like on the S4? the hose that came with the with the kit is just a regular steel braided one that has to clamp on a barbed nippe or something... any idea?
I have a knight sport Elec boost controller...
my intention was to attach it and leave it open all athe way... at first.. but at least connect the thing while i'm at it...
why does the bst controller have a seperate line rather then just bleeding off from the line connected to the lower nipple?

The S5 one is identical except it's longer.
The flanges are just two-bolt flanges.

is the inside of the block side of the flanged section threaded?
how can i "convert" from just a plain hose off the turbo to attach to the flange?
i was thinking a brass barb... or getting a cutsom "flange" made where one side just like the original flange, and a nipple/fiting on the other side...
but i dunno... any suggestions?

***FYI.. ***
that's a JUNKYARD in japan incase u guys didn't notice the tall grass and closesly packed cars
IT"S NOT MY CAR!!
and on a 2nd note.. the oil lines don't fit!
FAWK!
either the preveious owner had custom oil line.. or the S4 is NOT the same as S5 oil line wise...

i took the stocker out...
split the oil feed line in bolt/thread in half and knew right away it wouldn't fit...
the turbo has a "nut" aka female side with no threads and the S4 oil line is also female with a nut.. a bigger one in fact......
i can take pics if u still can't picture what i'm talk about..
this sux.. i completely removed and re-installed the stock turbo's all in one night bitterly dissapointed...
*sigh* so much for paying a little extra to get an oem like fit...
