This is my question

All the TII engines that I have ever worked on or seen
have been S4

I've read how the S5 has larger
ports

Does it also have more meat to port then the S4 side plates?

I'm right now in the process of having my engine rebuilt
cracked 3 apex seals
due to running lean

Would the S5 plates be a good upgrade
since FD plates are hard to come by
