And define better as in what terms.

S4 - lighter, less horsepower
S5 - heavier, more horpsepower

After that people will debate if the plastic in one is better or worse... shrug.

obviously the s5, things tend to get better through progression, and the s5 tII makes around 30-40 more hp. s4 also had the twin scroll (86 and 87 iirc), which had its benefits, and a divided manifold. s5 had neither and the ports flowed more efficiently due to sizing i believe.

Also the wastegate on the S5 turbo is superior to the S4 unit. FC3Spro.com will have all of the answers you need.

Its not all the turbo for that 18 hp. The intake is longer so its got more velocity before it hits the combustion chamber.

Do you mean the physical turbo or are you talking about the whole car?

read this for differences in engine and turbo: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/FAQ/ZVK/zvk.html

the turbos are the same for compressor and cartridge.

The hotside os the only difference.

S5 is better because it has a larger wastegate.

...the extra hp is mostly the compression in the engine, not the turbo. Also, Im gonna be a technical ****** and point out that the S4 turbo is 87-88, not 86-88

Yes,
You need the turbo and the exhaust manifold.

Keep your years oil return line.

The oil feed/water lines are universal
