S4 Turbo oil catch can setup with stock ECM and emissions?

Hello,
I was wondering what the best way to run a catch can is on an S4 Turbo II. I'm getting oil smoke out the turbo on idle and think this would be an easy thing to try, however I am under the impression that just going from the vent port to air would cause problems. Is it just that simple or is there something else i need to consider?

Thanks,
Zeke

I don't mean to crush your spirit, but a catch can is not going to fix your problem if you're experiencing it at idle. I know you're doing it in hopes to have a quick fix, but sounds like oil seal in the turbo has let go.

To answer your question though, no you will not be able to/want to use a vented catch can, as you correctly assumed. The stock ECU relies on the metered air to run, a traditional vented catch can will effectively leak off this metered air. You should be able to use a sealed catch can that is plumbed back into the system post AFM.

well I've rebuilt the turbo thrice now and it still has the same problem so thats why im looking at other options lol.

thats kind of what I figured. still not convinced the purge control valve doesn't have a part in this but idk what else to check on it. nothing is clogged or anything.

maybe buy another turbo, rebuild it fresh, and install it? i'm pretty much out of ideas on how to fix this issue.
