S4 TII vs S5 TII

Hey guys,

I notice that that S4 TII is nearly 150lbs lighter than the S5 TII. I know the S5 came with those automatic sliding belts, but could that assembly alone can not possibly be 150lbs. Is there anything else that I'm missing that could add to the weight difference?

Thanks

differences in material used for parts. like the radio surround is made of a rubbery type of deal in the s5 and s4 is shitty plastic that breaks. i know theres 2 different tii hoods out there an aluminum one and a steal one no idea what series. misc. body parts are different like the rear bumper. all these little things add up.

Oh yeah, forgot about the hood difference. I know theres also those sides skirts as well. I can see about half that weight gain now.

Basically hundreds of pounds of aluminum and so on all around. They went cheap when making the s5; they tend to have more unreliable parts too. Though there was a little tech increase for more power, reduced oil consumption, etc. It's a shame b/c it would have been nice to have both the tech improvements and the expensive parts.

More specifically, I just learned the other day that S5 doors have better impact bars, and in some parts of the unibody there's an extra layer of metal sandwiched in..

S4TII didn't have power steering standard
S4TII didn't have ABS standard

Add this weight to the S4 TII and the gap closes considerably

Yup, that could account for that extra weight. Makes sense now, thanks man.
