S4 TII stock boost gauge question

It's been a long time since my red FC in my sig has been stock so..... what I am looking at buying is another 87 TII that's all stock. I test drove it last night and I'm going to do a compression check this afternoon and check for excessive play in the turbo shaft, but what I need to know is how far up should the needle read on the stock boost gauge ? This one stops about 1/4 of the way up. I don't remember how much mine used to read. Does that seem a little low on boost ?

Assuming the gauge is in perfect working order, it should reach nearly to the top. 400mmHg = 7.7psi, and stock boost peaks at ~6.6psi before dropping a bit. So yes that does seem a little low on boost.

Thanks that's what I needed to know. Will definately be checking turbo shaft play. I guess could be restricted stock cats with 83000 miles on them too. Thanks again.

Same here. I was going to mention this earlier, but was also going to post some other information that I was having trouble finding...

That's exactly what I did. Compression read 90 p.s.i consistent on both rotors and turbo shaft play was minimal.( a little up and down but not enough to bind against compressor housing and none in and out ). Paid $2500. (bottom dollar). I'll post pics of it soon.

Very good price for a bone stock TII. These cars are not getting any cheaper... If it's as simple as the cats, you got a great deal.
