S4 TII Rear End building help?

My rear end makes a lot of whirring noises, I have read this means my Rear end is on its way out. I have changed the fluid and the noise stays. I was wondering If any one had any insight on the subject.

Mine has been making a whirring noise ever since i put it on the road 2 years ago (bought with blown engine) Its a 86 with s4 t2 rearend. The noise is 100% from the rear area. It hasnt gotten one bit louder in the pasr 30k i put on it. I recall checking for play on the front pinion bearing and half shafts and felt pretty solid. Im at a loss...
