S4 TII Heat shields and rebuild questions
Hey all, pulled my 1987 S4 Turbo II engine out for a rebuild. Kinda messed up the heat shields around the turbo
... I was wondering if you guys and gals get new ones or even put them back on. Getting rid of the cats, so that might reduce some of the heat.
Now on to some rebuild questions. Depending on the condition, would I be able to re use the spacer for end play? Also, what clearances do you like to run on these turbo rotarys?
Any other comments and concerns are requested!

the turbo heat shields are a puzzle, put as many back as you can, they actually do something.
in general the end play doesn't change in a rebuild, its needs to be checked, but the chance of reusing the spacer is like 99%. Mazda seems to be using the loose end of the stock spec these days, they may have changed something after 1995...
