S4 TII engine to S5 NA chassis
S4 TII engine to S5 NA chassis
well i did search so don't jump the gun and tell me to search.
Now i have the S4 TII engine from my car and i just bought an S5 na shell to put it in. any considerations on to how i should do this? i've heard of S5 turbo engines to S4 NA chassis...but thats all i'm doing it the other way around and i just cant find a single shread of info. if anybody can help me on how to go about this project it would greatly be appreciated. should i also drop in the t2 tranny or can i leave the s5 na one there and use it with the engine? well i really just need detailed instructions on this...thanks

if you are refering to this thread : https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/faq-fc-frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-a-181219/
yes i've read it. and i have gone through the faq...now this thread specifies S4 Turbo II to S4 NA same basic principles apply to S5 Turbo II to S4 NA...now what i don't now is if it can be done the other way around (S4 Turbo II to S5 NA) basically because of the different wiring that's involved.

it'd be easier to just use the s4 engine but use all s5 components like air flow meter, ecu, boost sensor, and wiring harness. you'll also need to use the electric oil metering pump if you're going to use the s5 ecu or will cause the ecu to go into limp mode and it won't run worth a crap. the crank angle sensor's plug on an s5 is included in the engine harness and on an s4 the plug is on the harness on the driver side which doesn't come out with the engine. plus the s5 plugs won't fit into and s4 ecu so you would need to locate the 3 s4 plugs, the s4 atompheric pressure sensor and knock box, and change 2 more plugs on the engine harness that are located in the kick panel. so unless you're into doing some really involved custom wiring you might want to take the easier route. and if you need the s5 components i spoke of i can hook you up with them. anybody please add anything i may have left out.

i forgot, you're gonna also need the s5 injectors. let me look at my engine so i can make sure of everything you need before i give you a price. i do have everything i just need to check. i sold my s5 shortblock and i still need to strip it down, so let me go over it and i'll get back to later today. cool? i can ballpark it for you, you're looking at least $500 worth of stuff, still interested?

Been there, done that. Like said above, the best bet is to use just the S4 short block, put an S5 front cover on it, and run the whole S5 fuel injection system on it.
The good thing is it's WAY easier to do a turbo swap on an S5 NA than an S4.
Here's a writeup I did some time back on the FC forum -
