S4 standalone ecu options in 2024

My 87 has been sitting in a barn since 2008. I had a motor rebuilt with a heavy port job , new turbo, RB exhaust and larger injectors. I put around 3000 km breaking it in. Since then it's sat. Never got around to putting a stand alone in it. Just dug it out of the barn and thought I would pick up where I left off.

What's the way to go these days for an ECU?

here are my thoughts, i was looking at price vs performance vs ease of use.
i don't think there are any plug and play options, although Banzai Racing sells an adaptor harness to run an FD Power FC, and mabye that works for something else?

Link: this is the best bang for the buck. it does all of the things, for the least money.
Megasquirt: its the same money as the link! it does work well.
Power FC: the Power FC with the FC Tweak DL340 box is a really good combination. ECU is very accurate, and FC Tweak is like a really good tuner. so the combo works really well. if you bought everything new its probably more than the link, and you have the two boxes plus a wideband. Xavier is also working on an FC Master, which would add the ability to react to knock and let you add sensors and such. its nea, and it what i'm running in my car, but the link is probably less money

Haltech: the current stuff is really good, everyone is happy with them. it is the most expensive choice
Motec: the basic ones are less than the Haltech, and Motec is the OG

there are more ecu's out there, but i don't really know enough about them to have an opinion

Our adapter can be used with any PNP FD ECU.
