they are the same on the exterior but the gearing is slightly different (5th gear I believe)...so yes it will bolt up and the wiring is the same--as long as we are talking about manual trannies here! The turbo trannies are the same i believe!

there not the same. S5 NA and TII are compatilbe *i think* since the flywheel can be swapped out. the same with the S4 NA's and TII's.

I have an S5 and when I ordered a tranny from pineapple racing they sent me a S4 tranny. The mounts are different, but you can put S5 mounts on the S4 tranny and the tail shafts are different. All I did was take the tail shaft from by busted S5 and put it on the S4. Works fine.

Does anyone know if there is any issue with the clutch assembly between an S4 and S5. I need a good used transmission, and have located a 40K mi S5, but I have an S4. I have just purchased all new S4 mounts, Seals, T/O bearing, Pilot Bearing, Seal Kit, Front cast iron cover, Center Force II Clutch etc. Will all this stuff work on an S5 Transmission. If so, I need to put a check in the mail, like yesturday!

OK I just finished doing the swap the tranny mount on the transmission are diffrent but you dont have to swap them just leave it on.
Also the wiring is the same nothing is diffrent from the s4 and the s5 transmission as in wiring.I dont know where all you guyz got your info from.!!
oh also and both drive shafts fit either s5 or s4..
no problem..I noticed the s4 had a cover over the shaft and the s5 didnt so I installed the S5 shaft instaed cause it's probably a few grams lighter.=)
