Turbo II conversion?
Not a motor swap, but how hard would it be to take the turbo setup off a turbo II and put it on an NA? It is the same motor correct? I am new to rotaries, but wouldnt it have the same compression too? Weaker APex seals maybe? I would like some info. I found a clean, nice looking NA around here for $1500 with low miles, but I need more power... PLS let me know!

To answer a few questions, yes the turbo will bolt up, but you will need a spacer when using the N/A lower intake. You cant really use a T2 lower intake, since the N/A engine is a 6-port housings and he T2 has 4 port housings, and the intakes match the ports. Also , the compression is not the same. 9.4:1 for a 86-88 N/A compared to 8.5:1 for a 86-88 T2, and 9.7:1 for a 89-91 N/A compared to 9.0:1 for a 89-91 T2. Also the turbo engines uses various other control systems for timing retard under boost, that the N/A doesnt have. Not saying its impossible to turbo the N/A engine, many people have, and with decent results, but its just alot easier and safer in my opinion to just do everything with the original T2 stuff.

Thanks for the info. That is a ton of stuff to swap. I guess the NAs dont come with LSD. Hmm... Well I called the guy about the NA this morning and he said it will turn over but not crank now, and he thinks the plugs are fouled out. If I could get that car running for around $1100 I would just drive the NA for now...
I really would like to get a TII car though. Since the swap seems like more trouble than it is worth.
