s4 to s5 trans swap help ASAP!

i needed a new trans and ended up buying an 88 NA trans for my 91 GXL
we mounted everything up properly and the process went pretty smooth until we hit the wiring.

now the wiring between the s5 and the s4 are slightly different. through trial and error we figured out which cords worked and the car started right up.

naturally we turned the car off so that we could take it off the jacks. after it was back on the ground, the car wont start up.

when turning the key, the damn thing rolls over strong enough to start but never gets going.

please help!!!

how much of the battery/starter harness did you take off? when i put a s4 tranny in my s5 vert the only wires that needed extended were for the reverse switch and the other single plug on the tranny (not sure what its for). i dont see how either of these would prevent the car from starting. did you secure the ground that goes on the starter bolt?

yup we secured the grounding
and that one wire streatching from the top passengers side of the trans is the only part left hanging.

i believe thats just anorther ground.

the car started up when on the jack stands so y wouldnt it when on the ground??
im about to go see if we blew the battery in a minuit cause it starts dying out after 5 min. of attempted starts

That other wire that you think is a GROUND,is an Important wire(if it is a wire that has a small Black capacitor on it..it goes from the Trans to the Firewall)..I am thinking that wire is for your Oil Gauge,Believe it or not.(if your Gauge is at ZERO,then I am RIGHT!)

lol ur right!
however we had the car started...it was just a blown fuse.
now day after we had the fuse replaced it ran like a champ all day.

i barley pushed it... for about 2 miles then drove it to a friends house and parked it. went back out side to run an heron , and the ******* car didnt start!
its just making a whining noise from underneath the car. the engine wont roll over, but when i turn the key it makes that noise till it starts running out of energy

please if anyone knows what this is leme know. skool starts in 2 days and i need this thing moving!!!

ill try to have a vid up later

A click click noise?

Because that means your starter is dying or your battery is dead.

It sounds like the gear on teh end of the starter is not kicking out. Check the wiring on teh starter and make sure you have a power wire going to it, and on teh little tab there should be a spade connector also. It sounds like the bendix isn't working! Get the starter tested at an autoparts store.
