S4--S5 TB's.

I'm a 1st Gen guy, so I wasn't real sure of this. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the S4 TB and the S5 TB? I want to use the S4 TB with the S5 UIM. Is this possible? Is the S5 TB bigger?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

It will work just fine. The only difference I can think of right off is the place where the omp linkage connects. I don't think it would be a problem though.

Thanks. The reason why I want to go with the S4 TB with the S5 swap is so I can use my stock S3 TPS, OPM, and ECU. But I still need to know if there is any difference in the way it bolts up to the UIM and if it is the same size (circumference) as the S5.

No difference. The previous owner of my s5 had an s5 TB, s4 UIM and LIM, and s5 motor. worked just fine.

What were you thinking for VDI activation?

You will have to shave off some of the metal on the bottom of the S4 TB to fit on the S5 UIM. This part of the casting hits the VDI chamber. Other than that, just make sure you use the S4 TB spacer, and it bolts right on. As an option, you can swap one of the 4 studs on the S5 UIM to match the length of the other 3, but I just unscrewed it a little bit so it was the right length. The stud goes deep in the cast, so it won't hurt to loosen it.

Good question. Until I get my Megasquirt installed, I am going to have to go with an RMP switch. As for the 5th & 6th ports, I do not have emissions on my 7, so I do not want to have to put the Air Pump back on just for an air source. I will seek another air source of some sort and also use the RMP switch to activate the ports. I am open to any suggestion you guys have.

Thanks for all the great info.

Mike

Hey thanks man, this is really good info. Can you elaborate a little more on the S4 TB spacer. Do you mean that one of the studs is too long, so I should use some washers or spacer for that particular stud?
