s4 to s5 tail light conversion

Yes, I've read Aaron Cake's FAQ on how to do this. I have one question, however. When using the s4 liscense plate holder, what exactly do I need to grind down to make the s5 tail lights fit? If anyone happens to have pictures, they would be very much appreciated.

I've spend the last hour or so trying to make this work and currently am a little bit

I think its just a peice of metal where the bulbs have to fit, you can also just bend it I believe. Although I havent done this swap myself I have seen pictures and I'm pretty sure thats what you mean.

Place the license plate thingie on the body with the S5 lights installed. You'll see that you need to trim each side slightly so it will fit.

Personally I don't put the license plate surround back on the car...I like the look of the tailights being separated (a throwback to old-school Mazda rotary cars).

It's easier just to bend it - if you cut or grind it down, you'll have to paint the new edge or it will develop rust over time. With it bent, as long as the paint doesn't crack, you don't have to worry about it. I did it to my car, and it's really not hard at all. I'm pretty sure I just used a crescent wrench set to the width of the metal, grabbed onto the side I needed moved and pushed a little bit.

It looks like Aaron Cake is the only one who actually read my post. Anyways, I have the S5 tail lights on now.

You're right, I missed that you were reusing the S4 license plate holder. Glad you got it figured out!
