Clutch Chatter - Common problem?
Gents/ladies,
My RX-7 has one annoying problem...clutch chatter. I've had the flywheel machined a couple of years ago (I'm starting to wonder about the quality/accuracy of the machining), and have replaced the clutch myself a couple of times since with a stock "Daikin" clutch assembly incl release bearing. I've also changed the pilot bearing both times. My engine and trannie mounts are fine. I think my input bearing might not be up to snuff.
I've heard from a couple of sources (one being a good parts guy at Mazda) that these cars (RX-7's) are very sensitive to clutch jobs. I get clutch chatter mainly on hills and when backing up. Lack of experience is not an issue. It is more pronounced after a few start ups in hills when in traffic.
What are your experiences like on this subject?

This thread gets pretty informative regarding clutch chatter, especially if you read the comments by ACTman:

I once got some chatter from a lightweight flywheel/heavy duty clutch combo, and used the Mazdatrix torque brace to eliminate it. Judging from the comments in the thread I linked, you might possibly eliminate yours using the same way, or by using Mazda's competition motor mounts.
