Well I am now looking into buying a T2 (just need to sell my N/A first), and seemed to notice that most people on this forum with the fastest T2s seem to be S4. Which one would be better to start with , and easiest to make fast?? I know the S4 is slightly lighter, but I wouldnt think it was that much to make that big of a difference. The S5 has 20 more HP stock, better turbo, can boost higher before hitting fuel cut, so Id think that this would be better to start with. Am I wrong?

Because the S4 is both lighter, and you can install all of the "nice" S5 parts as bolt-ons.

Well, if you are gonna be modding it. The S4 does have the lighter weight to begin with. But once you start swapping in those S5 parts to add power, you are adding the things that make the S5 heavier. So you will end up in the same boat eventually, or very close to it.

I'd say hold out for an S5, then pull a/c, ps, abs, interior crap, etc to make it lighter and still have the power, and save yourself some time and cash.

s4 definitely...and not just because i drive one. the reason why i'd choose the s4 is because of the lighter weight. lighter car = nimble driving experience.
i also know that the 1320 times for both the S4 and S5 are 14.4sec...it's only the 0-60 times that differ, the S5 being quicker because of higher (and earlier) torque peak. S4 does it in 6.8sec and S5 in 6.1sec.

i don't think it really matters much...because in the end, you'll end up with basically the same results....and of course, an S4 is less pricey compared to the S5.

those are my thoughts at least....

Youll end up modding the car anyways, so I dont see why you would waste that much extra money on a s5. Here, they are more than twice as expensive as a s4. For that difference there is so much **** I could buy.

It's heavier (better sound dampening), looks better (gauges and interior trim are nicer IMO) and usually comes in black.

S5's are better suited as a nice, quick car that you can take on a long distance drive or on a date. S4's are the better platform for racing, simply because they're lighter and cheaper. Plus, most S5 doo-dads can be bolted onto an S4. Since S5's are so rare, it seems almost a sacrilege to tear the interior out of one and throw it in the trash. Start with a S4 and buy on Ebay what the car didn't come with stock.

I'm Digressing from Initial point from thread but the Interior of the S5 Is far more superior looking. Better quality and visual appeal.

I had Blue Leather Interior before but now have 91 (s5) Black Turbo II Interior. I like to stick this point In when ever I can.

Different grades of plastics were used in the S5 that make the process of breaking interior pieces slightly more difficult.

I like my 91 TII black too ...

Yea, I'll be modding pretty heavily, but just wondered dollar for dollar which one would make more power. It would seem that you could go further on the stock turbo on a S5 than a S4, but I guess when you count in the initiall price for the car, it evens out.

Well, can anyone post a S4 interior and a S5 interior for comparison? I'm happy w/ the S4 interior, but I'm curious about the visual differences.

The interior is actually pretty clean and flawless. Pics came out like crap (I was using a very old disposable camera).

I think the max boost of an S5 being 2 lbs higher than an S4 is where almost all that 18 extra HP comes from.

The Images, the Blue, so much for the former Interior. Silver on Black looks heavy. Best upgrade to date.

nice interrior, same colors as mines, what's ur car color? well mines a little shitty right now, it's packed with parts, emmissions, turbo, no deck also, and broken arm rest, and bust window switches, but it's still cool.

The only thing i would want a S5 for is the center console, because it's not plastic but rubber ...
on a side note, did u know s5 are heavier than FDs? and that 87s4 come in light weight hoods?

The car is silver right now. Kind of deciding between champion white (integra type r color) and monaco blue pearl (see pic)

Oh I have a deck, its just in my rear bins One of my window switchs is also broken (accidently dropped the door panel when I was putting leather ones on, done after pics were taken). Anyways, it snapped the switch in half Its all good though, new one should be here in a few days.

It all depends on how much you are planning to mod.
If you are going to totally gut the car, slap on a t-61, and a haltek, the slightly lower comp. rotors of the s4 are better....
If you just want a nicely modded street car, runnning et's in the 13's, go S5 all the way!!!
I have had both, and I wouldn't say there is a single thing that I liked more about my s4 than my s5... The interior is waaay nicer, nicer body work, lights....
The turbo on the s5 is way better- spools quicker, better wastegate, and the slightly higher compression of the rotors yields more power.

The reason the fastest TII's here are S4's is for a few reasons:
1- There are a hundred times more s4's around (sold) than s5's
2- Most people don't want to totally gut/mod an s5 TII, since they are such a nice cruising street car.
3-The people that want to really make a project car aren't going to dish out the premium price for the s5.
