S4 and S5 rear iron plate difference.

I'm looking how to tell the difference between a S4 and S5 TII rear IRON plate apart.

If somone could post pictues of a S4 and S5 and point out what to look for I'd apreciate it alot.

Thanks for your time.

look at where the casting is near the rear upper dowel pin, the S5 casting is a bit larger and most have a rib heading up to the oil filter pedestal much like an S6 iron.

Yes you can mix them.. but I want to use a S5 on my S5 motor.. as I already cracked iron at the dowel pin.. and well want to get a new iron before I swap it.. I have a S4.. but would like to use the S5 as it is stronger.

But yes you can use a S4 iron on a S5 block... but I do believe the port timing is a bit difference.. won't matter much if it is ported.

So Karack, The area were the o-ring hits iron at the dowel pin is larger in diameter correct?

yes, s4 has no overlap with the rotor housing, S5 has a bit of overlap where it meets the housing and S6 looks rather menacing with the overlap when it mates to the housing.
