Hey guys, I tried searching for a good 30 minutes. I thought I remmber someone saying s5 intake manifolds have better short runner intake manifolds or was it the 3rd gen manifolds?

Wouild it have to be turbo or na?

Well I know nothing about Turbo manifolds.

The N/A Manifolds have long runners and the S5 Looks to have longer runners then the S4 BUT also has the VDI which shortens the timing for the reversion wave from the closing rotor to the next forcing air into the opposing rotor. The S4 manifold has the same effect except it has to travel up to the Dynamic Chamber and back down the other intake runners, which by the time it reaches the dynamic chamber, its not a real helper. Plus it is not directed anywhere after it reaches the DC.

Swapping a S5 n/a manifold onto a S4 engine helps greatly.

The S5 Turbo intake manifold has runners that are larger in both length and diameter compared to S4's. Side by side the difference is quite noticeable.

Hey, I just picked up a S5 engine. I did not notice anything differnt with the intake manifold. Im trying a search, but did not pull up anything along those lines for the s4 t2 vs s5 t2. Were you talking about turbo or NA engines?

I thought the manifolds were the same and only the dynamic chambers were different on the NA models. S5 dynamic chambers came with VDI(variable dynamic intake).

Oh, So I guess they are the same for the turbo models s4 t2 vs s5 t2?

Just got an S5 manifold for my S4 , I've found two installation guides:
http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=46&co=1&vi=1
&
http://homepage.mac.com/carldavis/intake.html

Has anyone used either one? Or recommend either of them? Also what is the general consensus on using the lower intake manifold?

I've read that the VDI is on the s5 upper intake manifold, and that the s4 lower intake manifold flows better. So what's the recommended setup all S5 manifold or S4/S5 hybrid manifold? Thanks!

(Note: I want to keep the air pump and most of the emissions junk I live in MA)

This is good for about 10hp so I should be nearly on par with S5's, in terms of hp, after the swap (i think)

I'm talking about Turbo engines. The manifolds look similar but they're not the same. Compare the heights above the flange of the two UIM's. The S5 sits higher because the runners are longer.

There was a good thread on TeamFC3S with photos clearly showing the difference, but I lost it...
