S4/S5 fuel rails

i tried searching but i didnt find the answer on here. thought id just ask.

i have an S4 and my pulsation dampner cracked. i was told by a friend of mine that the S5 is a direct bolt up and it has a metal dampner on it. so i went ahead and bought an S5 fuel rail. i havent taken mine apart yet to get to it, but just from glancing at it, it looks different.

are the S4/S% fuel rails interchangeable?

As far as I know, no. I was told that the s4 doesnt bolt up to the s5 so its gotta be the same s5-s4. Thats why when you go to do the s5 intake swap you've gotta get everything, fuel rails, intake, everything.

The S4 and S5 PRIMARY fuel rails are interchangable.
Both S4 and S5 use identical center irons, which is where the primary rail bolts to.
am using a S5 center iron in my S4 motor with a S4 primary rails with zero problems.
The SECONDARY fuel rails are not interchanable.

The banjo bold out of another S4 primary fuel rail will work to replace the PD also.

i hope im not hijacking the thread but its relavant information and im sure someone may find use of this information. if we replace the PD with the banjo bolt, is there any difference? why pay 100 something dollars for a PD when all we need to spend is 20 bucks for some banjo bolts? theres gotta be a difference right?

This has been discussed many many many many times elsewhere.
Heres a thread from the Archives:https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/skeptic-banjo-bolt-pd-elimination-mod-395021/

Long story short, this is a long debated topic.
Some say that Mazda put it there for a reason, some say they have no problems without it.
Personally, I have been without one for a couple years and have had zero problems.
Some people even adapt a Marren PD to their fuel system.

It all just depends on whether you want to keep spending money on peace of mind.

The primary is the short one bolted to the intermediate iron. The secondary is mounted to the intake manifold. Also, the banjo bolts are NOT interchangable between primary and secondary. They are completely different sizes.

i know what you mean....but i was asking which one was primary cause before i bought the banjp bolt, i had already bought S5 fuel rails. now i know i can still use the S5 primary when ever i feel like pulling apart the intake manifolds. for now, the banjo bolt will do.
