S4 to S5 conversion.

Hello All,

What all is needed to convert an S4 to an S5(Not swapping engines) as far as the stock engine management sytem goes? Also can the intake manifolds interchange? Oh and by the way both cars are NA.

You could not swap the stock engine management, as it is set up for different motors.

If you swapped engine managment you would need to swap engines.

Intake manifolds are interchangable but need some modifications. There is a write up somewhere on how to do it but I forgot where.

That makes no sense. If people use the s5 maf then everything else should be able to work on an s4

No, the spark plug placement is different (requiring differnt timing), the compression is different (requiring to different fuel maps), the MOP is mechanical on a S4 so you would need a S5 front cover and MOP (so that the S5 computer wouldn't go into limp mode), there is no VDI on S4 motors, the redline is different (because lighter rotors are used) so again the fuel maps would be different...

There are probably 10-15 major differences between the two motors, so using a S5 ECU would be insane on a S4 motor.

So no, you can't use a S5 engine management system on a S4 block/motor without major changes to the S4 motor or replacement of the motor with a S5 motor.

Mark, you beat me to it!! But yeah, there is no way you could get an S5 ECU to run a full out S4 motor. No possible way.
