S4 + S5 Control arms

well ive got reson to belive my passenger side ball joint is bad.

I was looking at the control arms, and ive always heard that the s5 ball joints can only be replace with a new control arm, as they are not removable. but it appears to me that I can remove the bracket with the ball joint in it from the control arm.

could it be that someone swapped s4 ca's into my 90 n/a?

I guess what im really asking is are the s5 and s5 ca's interchangable?

It sounds like someone put S4 LCA'a on the car. What are the stabilizer end links like? Metal or plastic? I don't understand your last question.

It sounds like someone rigged it. I prefer the replacable S4 ball joints, however there are issues mounting the S5 stabilizer links to the S4 LCA's. It would help if you posted pics.
