The description if this engine read that it has an upgraded turbo. If the s5 turbo is an upgrade to the s4 then is it safe to say that's an s4?

Hopefully that's not the engine that he send me. I asked for an S4. I'm going to pick it up at the warehouse on Monday so I'm going to check the fins and the plastic filler. So if it has 8 fins and the filler is metal then I should be ok then..right? If any one wants to buy it, if it is an S5 let me know before I return it. here the link of what I bought http://www.japanracingengines.com/engineview.asp?id=137
Asking $2185 that what I paid for. Just want my money back.

Well looking at the small pic it looks like a s5, the fan, looks like one hose coming out of the power steering pump, plastic neck on water pump. 10 blade fan, those are all the sigs of a s5 engine. If I am not mistaken, dont the engines have build and VIN numbers on them somewhere so you could see what they are. Anyway dude, if that motor has all the electronics, you might want to consider the s5 swap. You have most of the stuff to do the swap, from the look of the pic.

I didn't look at the pic, but a S5 knock sensor is on the housing, while S4 is on the intermediate iron.

How much of the electronics do I have to swap. I have a mechanic (was a mazda mechanic for 30ys) that that's going to put the swap in. The problem is that he doesn't want to get into a lot of hassle to get the car running. How many additional hrs would it take him to but in a S5 instead of the S4. This S5 comes with HKS ECU/ Fuel Management(PFC F-CON), would this make swap easier. Depending of the answer I get I'm considering keeping the engine. In short is it worth doing the swap.
Thanks for your help guys

PS I have an 88 T2 that I would be swap that S5 into

I have read all the problems of the s4 to s5 swap, I guess I'll be sending that engine back. Hopefully he doesn't charge me the 20% restocking fee , considering it was his fault for sending me the wrong engine.
