s4 or s5?

I just did this swap form my 86 NA to a turboed engine from Japan, now what motor did I get? an s4 turbo? or an s5 turbo? The thread on this that I found in the FAQs didn't really help me since I have no clue what part is what with out my manual(its in car at garage).
Here are picture of the imported engine in the car now. my site hosting wont let me direct link(I think) so here is the link to the pictures: http://ogcars.com/index.php?option=c...id=35&Itemid=4

This is a short vid of the engine:

Thanks for the help guys and gals!

Why expect someone to answer your question in like...5 seconds. If it is that important, should have thought to ask before you needed the answer.

I understand your excitement and looks like its going to be a great swap...post some dyno sheets and vid when done!

Think about it.

Yeah ill post some more pics and vids and dyno once it's all done up.
Still need to get my digital boost controller, and if after I get some nicer then stock rims and tires it in my budget, I'll get a turbo upgrade. But for that I need to know if it's s4 or s5.

It's not that important and I'm in no rush. I'm not getting any upgrade for a while, just looking at getting bigger brakes and possibly a short throw shifter.

Thanks!

the water filler neck on the water pump housing is plastic for s5 and metal for s4. that is one way to tell.

well the water neck then your omp is electric or not if so then it is a s5 but then if you didn't which out the fans then it is definitly a S5 because s4 have 8 blades on their fans and the s5 has 10.

I think the knock sensor is another easy way to tell. Look above the trailing (top) spark plug on the front rotor. If there is a sensor bolted to the block right above it on the front rotor housing, it's an S5.

I don't think the mechanic changed the fan, this should be the fan that came with engine.

I will look into that next time I go see the car. s4's don't have this sensor I take it?

That is an S5, I take it you are going to be running premix. The S4 ECU cannot control the electonic OMP.

lol I didn't do the swap.
but when I get the engine rebuilt and ported(someday) I will get the engine bay repainted. Not a huge concern to me, it's not a show car yet, maybe in the next few years.

I just read the FAQs and what is the difference between the 13BT and a TII and which one do I have? I'm going to guess I have the s5 engine but is it 13BT or the TII

The TII is a car the 13bt is an engine. All turbo 13b's from S4 and S5 are the "t" designation. The ECU that came with that engine will not plug into the chassis harness in your car, nor will the engine harness mate with the dash harness.

What you mean about the harness?
My new engine came with its harness or am I missing something here?

Your car is an S4, the ECU and harness that came with your engine are S5. The existing car harness will not pug into the ECU or engine harness, the connectors are different.

So I'm going to have to premix my fuel all the time? there is no way to run the electronic OMP off the new harness? by rewiring some things?

If you keep the S5 ECU you can run the E-OMP, but you will have to change the plugs on the chassis harness at the ecu and the dash harness where it mates with the engine harness

Can I run both ECUs at same time? or is there an ECU I can buy that will run the s5 stuff and the s4 stuff? Or is there a harness I can buy that will mate the s5 ecu with the chassis harness?

both ECU's no can do, adapter harness not that I know of. I think you are stuck rewiring. This is one of the drawbacks to mixing series. The cleanest install is to get the S4 TII ECU harness and sensors. Change out the front cover for an s4 TII then run the mechanical OMP. Either way it is going to be a lot of work.

I started this thread with ECU and harness pictures, the only thing not working is getting the fuel plug connected to new ECU.

That is not a big problem just run a wire from pin 3K on the ECU to the circled wire in the pic at this link, that will trigger the circuit opening relay, which will turn the pump on.

3K???? I'm not that great when It comes to wiring. You saw the pictures right?
The Male Plug from "Picture 1" doesn't fit in the Female Port on the ECU I got(which came with the engine). The ECU take 3 plugs, the 2 small ones fit fine in the ECU but the bigger one in Picture 1 doesn't fit at all from what he said.
