NC S4 non-turbo throttle body water line

First off, sorry if this is in the wrong place; I'm very new to the forums. Anyhow, long story short, my S4 is pissing coolant from the hose behind the throttle body and I'm having a tough time replacing it as my hands are too big to be able to hold plier to grab on the hose clamps. Any suggestions as to what other methods I could try to remove it? Or what can be easily moved out of the way?

Welcome! I hope you find this forum helpful.

Let's cut right to the chase- the coolant lines that go to the throttle body are attached to a device on the throttle body called the thermowax. One coolant line attaches to the rear iron below the upper intake manifold. The other is connected to the Bypass Air Control Valve (BAC) on the driver's side of the intake plenum. From there the coolant line attaches to the water pump housing.

The thermowax helps control your cold idle speed. Removal of the upper intake manifold allows the easiest access the coolant line where it attaches to the rear iron; however this can be time consuming/expensive for somebody that is new to the S4 N/A.

You may be able to access it without removing the upper intake manifold by simply removing the throttle body, as this gives you more room to work. But the other end of the coolant line is still buried under the manifold.

Good luck.
