Hey all, not too long ago I made a post about my 88 convertible have a bad low throttle surge. What it ended up being was my dad messing about and tightened a screw on the side of the throttle body a lot. Turned it back out a good bit and it ran a lot better, but can't give it wot because it just starts babbling and breaking up (just seems like crappy spark plugs). My question is what is this screw exactly, and what is the proper way to adjust it? I included some pics of the screw I mentioned and some connectors that are near the air filter that aren't connected to anything, Any tips on those would be great
that is the throttle position sensor adjustment screw, the throttle position sensor test connector and the connector for the AAS suspension, which every car had on the harness side
The TPS can cause driveability issues if not properly calibrated. The TPS adjustment is pretty well documented, search is your friend.
On a side note, your engine bay looks pretty dirty. If I were you, I'd clean up all of the electrical connections just to make sure you are getting clean contact. Probably unrelated to your driveability issues (TPS will cause that), but it is still good to keep the connections clean.

it's mostly oil spray, in Ontario, the salt is such a killer especially for older cars, it seems to run ok, but the tps and idle definitely need to be adjust properly since they got all messed up in the first place, found a pdf of the service manual so I'll try that this week!

I live about an hour north of Toronto, so I get it. Oil spray every year is irritating, but if it keeps the rust away then it's worth it.
Get a multimeter and do a quick search on how to adjust the TPS. Use the screw to adjust the resistance to 1k ohms, 5k at wot. Also look up aaron cake's grounding procedure and follow the instructions. Clears up a whole lot of symptoms and costs nothing.
