http://www.fc3spro.com can tell you the proper porting for a wastegate.

Correct TB porting in attachment. Thanks to RETed. OR just pay him to do it .

are there any definate advantages to porting the tb? i've been thinking about doing it for a while now but i've heard that the stock mazda pieces flows so good, porting it hardly gives any descernable gain

The way I see it, the limiting factor is still the size of the butterflies. Since you aren't making them bigger, you aren't really getting any more air. Some might argue that the air is less turbulent or something, but I don't think it matters once it goes all the way through the intake assembly.
I have no first hand experience with this, just basing my post on logic.

The limiting factor isn't the TB at all. The TB is huge for an NA application so you won't notice any change no matter what you do to it. But doing this does improve flow through the TB because reducing turbelence does lower restriction. It's just that in this case the improvement will be tiny. On a modified turbo engine the results will be more noticiable.

I don't want any liability on doing this to a non-turbo TB. :P
I don't think it's worth the gains for a non-turbo TB.
