s4 man tranny question...
I just got my tranny out to replace the clutch. I figured while I had it out, Id see why it wouldnt center the shifter from the first and second side. It centers fine from the reverse and fifth side, but is floppy on the drivers side, any way, I found the cap and spring mechanism for centering on the fifth and reverse side, but a plate on the other, after looking in the manual is aparently supposed to be there. So I am wondering now how the tranny centers the shifter from first amd second, or if it is supposed to???????
I have never seen a tranny that didn't so....
Thanks in advance....!

Just a heads up if anybody else has the same loose shifter problem.
I found out after some tinkering and comunication with the dealer tranny man,(also found out that Mazda Performance is in my local dealer) that the spring clip that goes around the shifter shaft(mines broken) is what centers the shifter. It works in colaberation with the spring and shaft on the left side of the tranny. You have to remove the shifter asembly from the tranny, but that isn't too hard if you have the tranny removed, you just might find it difficult if the tranny is still in the car, but I bet you could still do it if you removed the cross member bolts and lowered it a bit.
Hope this helps for any body else that has a faulty shifter.
