s4 (gasp) 5/6th port activation

Sorry, I've read everything I could find by searching and it all sucks. Common, t-fittings and toilet hose? Surely someone has a real solution for this?

I've got an S4 and am looking for a mechanical solution to the 5/6th port activation delima.

Current plan is for dual Morse cables to actuate the ports and a door lock solenoid for activation of the cables.

I'm thinking of using the shift light signal from the ECU to activate the solenoid. Will this work or is it too low of an RPM? Yeah yeah, I know about the RPM switches out there, but I like cheap & easy solutions. That'll be the last resort.

Ideas, help, a decent writeup that I missed???

You're making this much more complicated than it needs to be. You can tap vac from the ACV dump tube or the Airpump to ACV tube to feed the actuators and they'll open properly. This is however unless you already removed both of these. If you've removed them then well, there is a thread in the Archive about actuator activation via an electronic airpump.

Yeah, I read that thread. My actuators have no nipples on them for air. I've removed the airpump & valve which leaves mechanical as my only resource.

Will switching the solenoid via the shift light signal from the ECU be a solution?
