You guys are forcing me into this... between my RX-7club family and my real family, you're all in Oregon, lol. So do you have a pic of your frankenstein tranny? I think I'll try to just use an S5 tranny. Will my clutch, speedo cable, Brand new shifter bushings, cauge cluster ect. work? Or is there anything else I need to change?

I'm still trying to figure out why OP can't use a stock S4 trans. All he would need to do is get the trans mount with the 5 speed transmission or find one for an S4. Then just use v8kilr brakets or just use his stock auto mount and go Rotary Resurrection way with channel iron.

Bwhaha! Yessss...

Actually that picture of my brackets is the only picture of the trans. It looks exactly like an S5 NA trans from the outside. The only difference is the mounting point for the Y-Bracket [diagonal on S5 and All autos, vertical on S4]

Yep, same clutch/speedo cable, etc. My S4 still has the Auto gauge cluster [I like not having the shift light]. As long as the gear assembly [that the cable plugs into] in the transmission is still correct for the trans, you're good! ^_^

Demonsniper1 >> Because using a piece of channel iron on the wrong part of the crossmember is an inferior and loss generating method. It will destroy both the auto and manual's center bushings eventually, and it will have less lateral stability [two joints, vs two quad-bolted connections].

Think of it like holding a stick out with one hand as opposed to having two sticks strapped to your forearms. The latter will be vastly stiffer laterally.

Ok maybe I didn't word my question right Derekcat since I understand the reason behind the two brackets over one. What I want to know is why can't OP use a stock S4 trans with stock S4 manual trans bracket, then make the two attachment arms? The only reason you had to use the S5 tail section is because you used the auto trans mount, if you had gotten the right mount you wouldn't have had to modify your transmisson. As far is I remember every mount bolts to the car useing 4 bolts. So why must OP and every one else who reads this tread later on change the tail section?

Ahhhh Okey! That makes more sense now.

The reason is because the manual crossmembers are bent and bolt on diagonally one side and vertically on the other. The Automatic crossmember is flat, making it vastly easier to fabricate the mounts for.
