It will net you 10-12 hp by leaning it out. Make sure you have all the other bolt-ons first before buying this item.

To large of a increase SAFC will get you minimual hp (ie 8 hp). It wont ever get that high. It is suppose to be your last mod since you have to get it tuned correctly to your other mods. So if you did SAFC first and then got a exhaust you would have to tune it again.

would i be able to manually tune it?

because the way i am at atm, i'm planning a tii swap in the future, so i'm looking at someone i can keep through the life of my car.

my exhaust was put on before i had the car, and it's some muffler shops "performance exhaust"

don't know if it does anything or not though, i doubt it.

So is the afc something i could play with, on my own to get a bit more out of my car for the time being?

cause for the cash, i don't think i would be able to get 8hp out of anything else.

Its just not a wise thing to do on your first mod considering the cost of the safc you could do a exhaust or a cai setup. Theres is so much more power to be made in other places. As far as tuning it now and then its not exactly a smart thing considering if you lean it to much or run it to rich it will damage the engine. The only way to properly tune it is on a dyno. That costs money and considering you will do it after every singe mod it just doesnt add up.

Tuning is tuning, no matter whether it's a simple interceptor or a top-shelf EMS. If you don't have the experience and tools to tune an engine (and few here do), you will need to have it tuned on a dyno by an experienced tuner with a wideband. Otherwise you risk engine damage.
