^ you need a TII clutch, PP, Flywheel and custom driveshaft...All you do is take the driveshaft to a driveline shop and have them put a spline that matches the diameter of the TII spline on yours....should be relatively cheap....

Just because were on the subject of transmissions. Isnt mazda suppost to start using the same type transmission that VWs are using. You know the one were you dont have to let off the gas between first and second and you dont have to push in the clutch, and it dosnt result in any damage or funny noises. And just to make it clear i aint joking around, I was kinda like WTF when I read the article myself.

It will cost the same amount to have one made as it will cost for the mazda trix one allready made to fit that also costs as much as a full TII rear end and half shafts used from the forum.

That wouldn't make sense, it's going backwards, maybe they'll release a turbo rx-8.

Its not really going backwards as they are two very different cars. The rx-7 is a pure performance car while the RX-8 is a more civilized sports car that mid-20's women buy in mass because they think its "cute" and not because its a damn rotary. ::ends rant::

I was responding to jazz's claim that bringing back the RX-7 after the RX-8 was out is going backwards.
I'm just unhappy because most of the people that are getting RX-8's are getting them because they are cute, and they don't appreciate the fact that it has a rotary engine. Hell, lots of them don't even know it has a rotary engine.

It is true that a lot of people buy them because they're "cute" but I think Mazda made it as the next rotary sports car. I think if anything, they'll just improve the RX-8. Maybe release a turbocharged version of it, you know... After all this is the first rx-8, just like the fb was the first seven.

Yeah, thats what I'm hoping. I saw a Mazdaspeed RX-8 somewhere. It was supercharged. Hopefully they will bring that out soon.

I think they have a good model for success with the 8 if they learned their lessons from the 7... many different models, pure sport fun, an intimate driving experience, lots of goodies (turbos, LSD's, oil coolers, intercoolers, blah blah blah)... if they keep it fairly cheap to operate and keep the complexity to a minimum (so Mazda mechanics can simply service the car) the 8 will have a long, successful stay.

And just as a personal note... just as there are certain characteristics of the different generations of 7's that I don't particularly care for; so it is with the 8... I'm sure there will be a nice generation of the 8 that I will buy someday : ))

i saw that too, it was when the RX-8 came out. if they do a mazdaspeed version it wont be until next year because they are doing the mazda 6 this year. and ive heard about maybe for '07 mazdaspeed 3?? we shall see.

i definately wouldnt get my hopes up about another rx7 though. i think mazda is just trying to get people excited. it would be sweet for a 20B rx-8!!!!

Yeah, that would be awesome. A 20B with side exhaust ports...... I bet it could push 300 hp easy with no forced induction. I bet they could get decent fuel milage too. Unfortunately I doubt it will ever happen.

I bought mine b/c it was a rotary and they handle awsome and look good.

Yea dub it should be a 20b NA.

Damn people do a little research there is no RX7 coming! Just look at the ******* vin code of the RX8. It is the RX7 replacement it says right stamped smack on it FE. FE is the next code in line to the FD. So what will they name a new rx7?

you dont have to worry about that (at least for awhile). but it would be cool for an awd 8. but doubt it'll happen. too much they gotta change and too expensive.

if they built a FWD anything with a rotary, imagine the possibilities. you could put a rotary in ANYTHING then.. well, so long as the car had the physical dimensions to hold the driveline.
mmm, rotary power in say.. a protege.

idk if anybody saw where they built a 4th generation civic hatchback with a 12A (either a bridge or streetport, i dont remember.) using a toyota transmission.

so long as whatever they built didnt replace the RX series with a FWD platform. blech.
