rx8 tranny on rx-7??
rx8 tranny on rx-7??
its prob a stupid question but i was jus wondering.. can i get a 6-speed tranny 4rm a rx8 and put it on my 89 gtu?? or i cant cuz it wont be able to go to 6th gear?? that would be kinda cool if u can so it tho! thik about it a 6-speed 2nd gen..
as covered before (please search before posting- this has been covered quiet a few times).
5th gear on the FE tranny is the same as the 4th on FC trannys anyway, so there is no real advantage of using the RX-8 tranny, and 6th on the FE tranny is actually taller (.83 vs .71) than the FC, resulting in lower mileage.
it would be like adding a extra gear between 2nd and 3rd.
Here prehaps this would help:

.
neh...no real difference betwen the FD and FC transmissions except one is push type and the other is pull.
The rx8 transmission has a speed sensor IIRC so you would have to figure out what to do with your speedometer cable. probably switch to the rx8 gauge cluster...
Also as Icemark said...no real benefit to the 6 speed.
If you want a 6 speed transmission, you could always get the HKS dogmission.....for about 6 grand...
Oh, BTW....please type normally...it hurts my eyes reading posts like yours...enough of the MaD tYtE y0 talk...

Not according to the VIN. Go look at a RX-8 VIN
[Shakes head] In my book people that call it a SE or SE3P are ones that just can't accept that the RX-8 is the replacement for the RX-7.
Calling the 8 a SE3P is like calling the FC a P747

Just to stur it up, about 2 years ago I read in a NZ/Australian car mag about a prototype 4TH gen RX7, it looked similiar to the RX8, but without the rear doors, alos was powered by a twin rotor called the 16B wide rotor, never heard anything else so just magazine hype

Not unless they are properly geared for your car. otherwise youll probably waste time in between shifts and end up at the wrong RPM.
I like the idea of a custom bellhousing adaptor that lets you custom order a Currie 6 speed to your specs!

I always heard mazda was going to come back out with the RX-7 between 06-08 with a 13B TT model base and a 20b tt luxary model. Damn. All just rumors on bringing back the RX-7. Plus pics I seen of the 4th gen RX-7 kinda looked like a vette/viper. Hate rumors.
