Rx8 fuel pump in a s4 na?
Rx8 fuel pump in a s4 na?
My seven has been a acting kinda funny lately it idles at 500 rpms. No power at all revs really slow. Good compression on front and rear rotors. And good spark from all coils leads me to the fuel system. I have already purchased a new filter and in tank strainer. Now on to the real question my boss drives a supercharged rx8 we just replaced his stock in tank pump with a walboro unit. Can i run his stock pump? I assume i might have.to fiddle with the connectors a.bit but it seems like a drop in. I just cant seem to find the flow ratings for it online. Also if anyone has any more suggestions about what might be wrong with my car please feel free.
Thanks

Its a s4 so no limp mode. Also ran great till about 2 days ago. Still stock ecu. No emmissions. True duels and a functional cai. I do plan on a turbo in the future but currently the rx8 pump is free and i would rather replace the stock one while i have the sending unit out. I know ill have to upgrade with the turbo but i just wanna drive it..
True. But the point im trying to make is while im replacing the strainer in the tank if.i can swap in a known good pump then why not right? The pump is original to the best of my knowlage it gonna be like killing 2 birds with one stone.
You aren't killing anything if there isn't a fuel problem to begin with.

Don't bother with RX8's Fuel pump, at least don't bother with the S1 fuel pump. It's made by Aarm and it's complete garbage. S2's Denso pump is much better but the question is, why would you wanna do that?
Just get a Walbro or Bosch, they're cheap and works better than the 8's S1 fuel pump.

1) Test fuel pressure with a gauge tee'd into the feed line.
2) If it fails, replace with OEM pump. Walbros are not advised for NA applications unless you're willing to take the required steps to control them (FPR) or have a need for all that extra flow.
